Grolsch Weizen

Crowned World’s Best Wheat Beer at the World Beer Awards 2007, Grolsch Weizen is a refreshing premium wheat beer brewed in Holland.  Containing 60% wheat and 40% barley malt, hops, yeast and water, Grolsch Weizen is brewed according to the German purity law of ‘Rheinheitsgebot’ and has no other ingredients. By contrast, Belgian wheat beers contain other ingredients such as citrus peel and coriander. Grolsch Weizen is a pure wheat beer that’s drinkable and thirst quenching. Weizen is unfiltered, so the yeast and protein produce the characteristic cloudy colour and soft refreshing taste. It is these elements that settle within the bottle and need disturbing when pouring – hence the need for the pouring ritual.

Serving Ritual
The server should gently roll the bottle of Grolsch Weizen on the bar before opening to disturb the yeast and protein. The beer should then be gently poured, at a slight angle, into a branded glass to enable a thick, creamy head to develop before presenting to the customer.
